Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-05-03
Cookmark is a Chrome extension that extracts recipe content from web pages and saves it to your personal library. This policy explains what data the extension handles and how.
What we collect
- Google account identifier and email. When you sign in, the extension authenticates with Google via Chrome's identity API and stores your account UID and email so your library is tied to your account.
- Recipe content you choose to save. When you click "Save" on a recipe, the extension stores the recipe's title, description, ingredients, instructions, prep/cook times, servings, photos, and the source URL.
- Sharing recipients. If you share your library, the email address you enter is stored alongside your account so the recipient can access your recipes.
What we don't collect
- No analytics or tracking pixels.
- No browsing history. Recipe extraction runs only on the active tab when you click the icon, and the extracted content is shown to you — nothing leaves your browser unless you choose to save it.
- No advertising identifiers.
- No payment information.
Where data is stored
Saved recipes and share records are stored in Google Cloud Firestore under your Google account. Authentication is handled by Firebase Authentication (a Google service). We do not operate our own servers.
How data is used
Data is used solely to provide the Cookmark service: displaying your saved recipes, syncing across your devices, and enabling sharing with people you invite. We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for advertising or any other purpose.
Your controls
- Delete individual recipes from your library at any time.
- Revoke a share to stop a recipient's access.
- Sign out to disconnect the extension from your account.
- To delete your entire library or account, email the address below — we will remove your data within 30 days.
Children
Cookmark is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify users through the extension.
